Welcome to the Northwest Chapter of the Parents Association Douglas A. Munro site!
Visit a while, and Doug will be as familiar as the boy next door, or your son or daughter's friend from Scouts, school or the ski club. Maybe you'll laugh at he and his dog, Flash. I know you'll find it hard to read his Canadian cousin's letter - just months before his cousin perished at the hands of the Germans.
And maybe this imposing Coast Guard icon and hero will become real to you. Maybe you'll have to look at your own Cadet, and consider what Doug's parents felt. And maybe that will make a difference.
I encourage you to begin your visit with the excellent narative by Coast Guard Historian Dr. Robert M. Browning Jr by clicking on the bar to the right. Most of the subjects there take you off our site. Be sure to return by clicking on the
Bar.
Almost every image you will see must be enlarged by clicking on it, so be sure to do so. If an image is too large, you may need to save it and reduce it on your computer. If you have problems, please contact me, Bud Runion (Jen '02, Brian '06) at DrBud (Note: Blue letters like these are clickable!).
And be sure to return, because this is a site in progress!
